First let me say that I own several Toshiba products so I didn’t think twice about Toshiba quality before purchasing this set. What a mistake. The set comes shipped with its base turned 90 degrees so it will fit in a smaller box. I was unable to get the stand turned back to its normal position. I couldn’t even remove the base if I wanted to mount it on a wall. No instructions in the manual. No inserts in the box. Nothing on the web site. I’m a fairly resourceful and tenacious person, but I finally gave up. I assume it was defective but I’ll never know.

Found this product to be highly unsatisfactory.
Could not make brightness and sharpness adjustments to make much of a difference, the picture just stayed too dark for my taste.
Picture also disappeared when viewed from the side.
As a result of all of the above, I returned the set for a refund, the day after it arrived.

Knowing nothing about flat screen TV’s, I bought this based on price and product reviews. I am using it with a rabbit ears antenna in my office and therefore have limited knowledge of the full capabilities. However, for my purposes, it works great. I am not able to pick up one (major) local channel and not sure if that is because the signal from the station is weak or a TV issue. I have contacted the station to find out if they know what this is about. Amazon service was efficient and fast. I am very happy with this purchase.

We needed a small LCD TV for a bedroom/home office. After some online research we ordered an AOC L19W89V 19″ LCD HDTV. It was awful The sound quality was exceptionally tinny and the picture was soft. No amount of adjustment improved either. The AOC was returned immediately. Having been once burned, we did some more research and selected the Toshiba 19AV600U. It’s a stark contrast to the AOC. The sound, both in volume and quality, is remarkably good. The picture looks also very good after some minor tweaks to suit our tastes. The stand comes already attached to the TV right out of the box, and tilts from zero to 90 degrees upwards. FWIW, our Motorola FIOS remote control found the right code for the TV on the second or third try. Adjustment are intuitive using the provided remote (batteries included) or the side buttons on the TV. I believe the 19AV600U is an excellent overall choice for this size TV at a reasonable cost.
