There has been some debate as to whether it is helpful or not in marketing your website to register it on best of the web – or as it is known – botw.org. Best of the Web is one of the oldest website directories on the internet and has earned its reputation as a sold and reputable source to find good websites and resources. When I visited botw.org recently, I was impressed to find many of my favorite sites.
But what impressed me even more than finding some of my favorite sites was finding sites that I might not have otherwise been made aware of.
On of the big topics for many people today when searching the internet is health.
There are many sites that claim to offer legitimate health information, and yet there are really only a few that actually do this well. Some of the sites I was able to locate on botw.org were health sites that featured reputable professionals as well as blogs and discussion threads by real users that offer some useful personal stories and anecdotes.
Based on everything I have seen and my own experience using botw.org, I would imagine any new information site, especially in the areas of health and wellness could really benefit from being listed on the site. As I have often said that getting your site listed with web directories is one of the most important things to do when it comes to making your site visible to search engines.
There are a myriad of ways that websites get to the top if the list on search engines, and having them listed on web directories is certainly an important one. Because of its reputation as one of the oldest web directories on the internet, botw.org gets plenty of coverage by the major search engines.
When you list your site on the botw.org directory, you not only increase the visibility of your website on the internet, you also increase the quality of the potential customers who visit your site. Users who access sites such as botw.org tend to be more serious in their product or service searches.
Users who access search engines for finding products or services may be less likely to be serious customers ready to make a purchase, but could instead be competitors on those doing preliminary research.
This is an important consideration this when you are using the internet to market your product.
Ideally, it is not just how many people that can find and visit your site, it is also important that a large number of these site visitors are actually converted into customers.
Eyeballs are great, but finding real customers willing to actually buy what you are selling is even better.
