You can't say "no one recorded to DVD" because there is at least *one*, me. I know of more, but we're working with me here so we'll run with it. I purchased a stand-alone Panasonic DVD burner with built in TV tuner (ala VCR in DVD form) specifically because I have a couple TV's, and computers (laptops even, gasp) from which I wanted to be able to watch my time shifted TV. TiVO wouldn't let me easily remove the media files and use them the way I wanted. So it was right out for me. I know I can't be the only one because you can still buy stand-alone DVD burners today, and I've had mine for a few years now.

I want to be able to carry my shows with me, to my Mom's house, to my best friend's house, to my Grandma's house on vacation so I can have 4+ hours of PBS TV for my 3 year old to watch. Hard to do that with a DRM laden DVR box. DVD's are still the *best* medium for video entertainment, in my humble opinion.

Just my 2 cents.
