Google Alerts keep us all in the loop, especially if they are focused tightly on the keywords we must follow online. But even the tightest screens sometimes let gnats through. If we’re lucky, the items that slip in aren’t annoyances but little bits of serendipity that allow us to enjoy the breadth, as well as the depth of the web.
So, what we found today made us smile - and I wanted to pass it along to you. Because of our interest in PC-TV convergence, we have a Google Alert screen for the letters “pctv.” Most of these hits, in fact, are not on point, but connect to a community TV station in Pittsburgh, or somewhere like that.
Today, however, it brought us to the first video from Perfume Critic, a rather precious blog about, well, perfume. It so happens we’re interested in perfume - it’s a fascinating industry, it involves billions of dollars a year, and, on some people at least, it smells good.
I wouldn’t recommend the video to all - the sound quality, particularly, is problematic. But it gives a quick slice - or should we say, scent - of a different world. That’s what the web and all media are all about, isn’t it? A way for us to experience a bit of life outside our own little bubbles. “P.C.T.V.” as they call it is a long way from HDTV, but it is a far cry better than teenagers making lewd videos in their bedrooms. We look forward to the next episode.

TV on PC is our fiture I’m sure
