We hadn’t heard about this device (AverKey550) before we saw this story (NY Times via Sun-Sentinel), but it seems to answer all of our (wired) needs:

  • Supports full screen underscan/overscan of resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 (PC) or 1600 x 1024 (Mac)
  • Plug n’ Play, no software drivers required
  • Compatible with all PCs, Mac and laptops
  • Presentation & Zoom Features
  • Simultaneously display on computer and TV monitors
  • Supports all VGA monitors Mac and multiscan monitors
  • Wireless remote mouse/remote control in one

We’ll reserve judgment until we can get our hands on one (hint, hint, Aver) to test out. But it sure seems to be what we want, so we can watch streaming video from the web on the big screen.
