How Do You Get Candy To Stick To Apple Wegdes?

We want to make the traditional Candy Apples, but instead of putting on a stick, we want to make apple wedges coated in the shell (easier to handle). The only problem I seem to be having is getting the candy to stick on the inside part (meat) of the apple. I also know I can only use certain apples that won’t begin to spoil (turn brown from air) after cutting them.
Any help would be great.

    So funny, couldn’t find any info for taffy apples, candy apples. I guess you would just have to experiment! There are lots for caramel ones, though
