The quality of human life has witnessed unprecedented growth due to advancements in all fields. Any issue has two sides to it-positive and negative. Parallel to new inventions and improvements, evils are also growing rapidly.
Drug abuse or addiction is dangerous to the individual. Drug Rehabilitation is a hot topic today, and research is ongoing in this sphere so as to improve the quality of drug treatment and make it more viable.
The first step in drug treatment is to identify the background of an addict, which will help in finding the correct drug treatment solution for him or her. This will also help in identifying the factors and environment in which the person was forced or drawn towards drugs.
Next, the duration for which the drug addiction has existed is important. This should be studied to locate the drug proportion present in his or her body. This depends on the drug. Some drugs like heroin or cocaine can be detected and removed almost completely, while drugs like alcohol or codeine remain in the human body for a longer time.
Alcohol Rehabiltation has many phases. Whatever the process, it should be carried out in a mild and soothing way so that the patient is comfortable in undergoing it. Detox is a primary process in drug treatment.
Extreme care and extra precautions should be taken in drug treatment. The patient should be given moral and emotional support to undergo the treatment in a holistic and satisfactory way. The purpose of drug treatment is to enable a patient to make himself free from a habit cultivated for quite a long time.
Drug addiction is an undesirable habit. Horace Mann has rightly said, “Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it everyday; and at last we cannot break it.” The processes and steps followed in drug treatment vary according to the type of the drug used, the duration of drug abuse, etc.
Not only that, drug treatment may be done at an emotional, physical, or psychological level. Sometimes, these may be combined.
Drug treatment, drug treatment centers, drug treatment programs, and residential drug treatments play an important role in breaking the cycle of addiction.
