Some new features in the AppleTV 1.1 firmware upgrade beyond You Tube functionality:

Parental Controls: I like this one. Configure AppleTV to limit or ban YouTube content. I know my kid watches YouTube, and I know YouTube is relatively clean (In the interest of research only, I typed in racy keywords on YouTube and got a lot of PG-13 stuff, as well as videos that said, “Hah, you got here thinking you would see sex, but you won’t.)

How to do it: Go to Settings/Parental Controls, set up a password, find YouTube option.

• Expanded screen saver. No big deal.

• Slideshow. Cool.

• Better photo display.
